Union Ministers – Dharmendra Pradhan – Sambhalpur, Rao Indrajeet Singh -Gurgaon, Krishna Pal singh Gurjar – Faridabad
Chief Ministers – Mehbuba Mufti – Anantnag-Rajouri, Manohar lal Khattar- Karnal, Jagdambika Pal – Dumariyaganj
Former Highcourt Judge – Abhijeet Gangopadhyay – Tamluk

Hot seats of the sixth phase, which will be monitored…

1. New Delhi

Bansuri, daughter of late leader and former foreign minister Sushma Swaraj, is contesting elections for the first time. She is a Supreme Court lawyer with 15 years of experience. PM Modi himself suggested her name. She is facing Somnath Bharti, a three-time MLA from the Aam Aadmi Party. Somnath is also a lawyer by profession.

2. North Delhi

There is a direct contest between BJP and Congress in North Delhi, but two-time MP Manoj Tiwari has the upper hand. Kanhaiya had earlier lost the 2019 election. Then he contested from Begusarai on a CPI ticket. However, after this Kanhaiya joined the Congress. Kanhaiya is branded with anti-national slogans.

3. Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh

Caste equations can change the election in Sultanpur seat. BJP had won here in the last two elections. But this time, to cut the Nishad and Kurmi votes, SP-BSP have fielded their candidates from these two communities. This is likely to upset BJP’s momentum. However, Maneka Gandhi, who has been an MP for 8 times, has the ability to cut the caste equations.

4. Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh

Nirahua and Dharmendra Yadav are facing each other for the second time on the Azamgarh seat. Nirahua’s confidence is high due to the victory in the 2022 bypolls, but Guddu Jamali’s joining the SP may make Nirahua’s path difficult. On the other hand, Akhilesh’s brother Dharmendra is also getting the support of the Indy alliance along with the SP. It is a fight to save face for the SP in Azamgarh. The entire Yadav clan is active to get the family’s seat back.

5. Dumariyaganj, Uttar Pradesh

BJP has fielded former CM Jagdambika Pal for the fifth time from Dumariyaganj seat. The former CM had won this seat as a Congress candidate, but joined BJP before the 2014 elections. BSP has given ticket to Nadeem and SP has given ticket to Bhishma Shankar alias Kushal Tiwari under seat sharing from Indi alliance.

6. Kurukshetra, Haryana

It is a big challenge for Naveen Jindal, who is starting his second innings after a break of 10 years, to make BJP win this seat. Naveen is pitted against Aam Aadmi Party’s Sushil Gupta and INLD’s Abhay Singh Chautala. With the victory of Jindal, who left Congress and joined BJP, the party can score a hat-trick of victories here.

7. Gurgaon, Haryana

This time in Punjabi and Muslim dominated Gurgaon, there is a direct contest between Congress and BJP. On one hand there is the stardom of Raj Babbar, while on the other hand BJP fears loss due to factionalism. In the 2019 elections, Rao Indrajit defeated Captain Ajay Singh of Congress by 4.95 lakh votes. But apart from Congress, JJP’s Rahul Yadav is also in front of the three-time MP.

8. Karnal, Haryana

Manohar Lal Khattar vs Divyanshu Buddhiraja. Just before the elections, the change of CM face has given the opposition a chance to become aggressive. This is Divyanshu’s first election, but he has to face factionalism among the leaders. Last time, Karnal seat was second in the country in terms of the winning margin of BJP MPs. BJP had won here by more than 6 lakh votes.

9. Faridabad, Haryana

In the elections held on this seat so far, Congress has won 6 times, while Bharatiya Janata Party has won 5 times. Union Minister Gurjar in the current government has a chance to score a hat-trick. Both the major parties have fielded a Gurjar candidate on the seat dominated by Jats. Chaudhary Mahendra Pratap Singh will contest against Krishan Pal from Congress. However, Mahendra and Krishan Pal have been rivals in the assembly elections 20 years ago as well.

10. Anantnag-Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir

Lok Sabha elections are being held for the first time after the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. Voting for the Anantnag-Rajouri seat was initially scheduled in the third phase, but later it was scheduled for the sixth phase. This time the credibility of PDP chief and former CM Mehbooba Mufti is at stake. However, here Mian Altaf seems to have an upper hand than Mehbooba.

11. Sambalpur, Odisha

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is in the fray from Odisha’s Sambalpur Lok Sabha seat. Congress has fielded Nagendra Kumar Pradhan and Biju Janata Dal has fielded Pranab Prakash Das. This seat has been won by the other party every time in the last 3 elections. In 2019, BJP’s Nitesh Ganga Deb won. BJD candidate Nalini Kanta Pradhan lost by 9162 votes.

12. Puri, Odisha

Puri seat is considered to be the stronghold of Biju Janata Dal. The contest between Sambit Patra, famous as a national political celebrity, and Arup Mohan, a former IPS officer, will be interesting on this seat. However, Sambit Patra has been minus marked due to his comment on Lord Jagannath. Sambit had also lost this seat in 2019 by just 11 thousand votes.

13. Siwan, Bihar

With Hina Shahab contesting as an independent candidate in Siwan, the contest has become three-way. She has lost the last 3 elections, but this will be the first election after the death of her husband Shahabuddin. JDU has given ticket to Lakshmi Kushwaha. RJD has distanced itself from Hina and has fielded 3-time MLA Awadh Bihari.

14. Tamluk, West Bengal

In West Bengal, Mamata government has been constantly at war with the central government on every issue. The same scene is seen in the election field as well. TMC has given ticket to a young face against the former judge of Calcutta High Court. This seat is also known for the dominance of Adhikari brothers. It is very important for both TMC and BJP to win here.

Biju Janata Dal (BJD), BJP, Congress and CPI (M) are the major parties in Odisha. The state currently has a BJD government under the leadership of CM Naveen Patnaik. He has been the CM continuously since March 5, 2000. Patnaik is the second longest serving CM in the country. He has been in office continuously for 24 years.
