Manmohan Singh Funeral: Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was cremated with state honors at Nigambodh Ghat on Saturday. His body was brought to Delhi’s Nigambodh Ghat on an army gun carriage. Here the three armies saluted him. After this, the funeral rituals were completed with state honors. Manmohan’s wife Gursharan Kaur, elder daughter Upinder Singh (65), second daughter Daman Singh (61) and third daughter Amrit Singh (58) were present at Nigambodh Ghat. The family also met Prime Minister Modi. The daughter performed the last rites.
Sonia, Priyanka, Rahul and other senior Congress leaders paid their tributes to him at Nigambodh Ghat. President Murmu, Prime Minister Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also came to bid him a final farewell.

During the funeral, Manmohan Singh was also dressed in his favourite blue turban. He had made one of the colours of Cambridge University the signature colour of his turban to remember it.
Dr. Manmohan Singh’s body was brought from his residence to the Congress headquarters at 9:30 am. After this the last journey began. Rahul Gandhi was sitting in the car with the body.
Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh died on Thursday night. He was 92 years old. He was ill for a long time. He was brought to Delhi AIIMS at 8:06 pm after fainting at home. According to the hospital bulletin, he breathed his last at 9:51 pm.

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the father of economic reforms, merged into the five elements (Panchtatva). The former PM’s daughter lit the funeral pyre. He was cremated with state honors at Nigam Bodh Ghat. The three armies saluted him.
The body was kept at the Congress headquarters for the last rites
The body of the former Prime Minister was brought from his residence to the Congress headquarters at around 9 am, where party leaders and workers were already waiting to have their last glimpse of him. After Manmohan Singh’s body was placed, Sonia Gandhi, Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and many other party leaders paid tribute to him. Manmohan Singh’s wife Gursharan Kaur and some other members of his family were also present at the Congress headquarters. Gursharan Kaur also offered flowers and bid her last farewell to her husband. Rahul Gandhi entered the party headquarters with Manmohan Singh’s family, consoling them.
He was the Prime Minister of the country for 10 years
Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister of the country for 10 years from 2004 to 2014 and before that he helped strengthen the country’s economic structure as the Finance Minister. The government led by him launched revolutionary schemes like Right to Information (RTI), Right to Education (RTE) and Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). Manmohan Singh was appointed the Finance Minister of India in 1991 in the Narasimha Rao government.
Controversy erupts over Manmohan’s memorial
Congress has expressed displeasure over Manmohan Singh’s funeral at Nigambodh Ghat. KC Venugopal said- The government could not even find land to build a memorial for the former PM. This is an insult to the country’s first Sikh PM.
In fact, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had demanded from Modi-Shah that a memorial be built at the place where Manmohan Singh was cremated. However, the Home Ministry said late at night that it may take a few days to decide the exact location of the memorial.
