T20 World Cup 2024: India has made it to the final of T20 World Cup 2024 by defeating England. A one-sided victory was achieved. Captain Rohit Sharma scored runs. Kuldeep Yadav and Akshar Patel got England all out. In the 8 T20 World Cups held so far, Team India has reached the final twice (2007, 2014). Dhoni was the captain both times. The team became champion in 2007 and in 2014 it was runner-up after losing to Sri Lanka.
On the Guyana pitch where the English batting collapsed to 103 runs, Rohit’s confidence in batting is reflected in one thing he said to Suryakumar. Liam Livingstone was bowling. Rohit said to Surya – If you want to bowl it up, I will give it to you. That is, let me throw the ball up and I will play a big shot. On the very next ball, Rohit hit Livingstone for a six.
After Rohit-Surya, the remaining work was completed by the bowling of Kuldeep, Akshar and Bumrah. Butler, Bairstow and Brooke got entangled in spin. Explosive batsman like Salt was dismissed by Bumrah on a slower ball.

When Akshar came to bat, he scored 10 runs in 6 balls. He hit a six. The innings was of just 10 runs, but the required total was achieved to put pressure on England.
Akshar bowled 4 overs, conceded 23 runs and took 3 wickets. Wickets fell in all the four overs of Akshar. He took the wicket of English captain Jos Buttler on the first ball of the first over. He took the wicket of Jonny Bairstow in the second over and Moeen Ali in the third. In the fourth over, he along with Kuldeep got Liam Livingstone run out.

Rohit Sharma: Indian Captain scored 57 runs. He hit 4 fours and 2 sixes. Rohit played this innings at a strike rate of 146 runs in 39 balls. He did not let the England bowlers dominate and did not let the run rate go down.
Suryakumar Yadav: Surya played an innings of 47 runs. He hit 4 fours and 2 sixes. After Rohit, Surya scored the most runs from Team India.
Kuldeep Yadav: Chinaman spinner Kuldeep gave away just 19 runs in 4 overs. Sent Harry Brook, Sam Curran and Chris Jordan to the pavilion.
Jaspreet Bumrah: Indian pacer bowled 2.4 overs. Gave 12 runs i.e. 4.5 runs in every over. Took 2 wickets. Sent opener Phil Salt and the only batsman from England to hit a six, Jofra Archer, to the pavilion.
2 reasons for India’s victory
1. Rohit-Surya’s partnership
Virat Kohli was out after scoring just 9 runs. In the powerplay itself, Rishabh Pant also returned to the pavilion after scoring just 4 runs. After this, Rohit and Suryakumar played an innings of 73 runs in 50 balls and took India to a fighting total. This was the biggest partnership from India’s side.
2. Spinners confused England
England used 2 spinners, Liam Livingstone and Adil Rashid. Rashid took 2 wickets. India used spinners, Axar, Jadeja, Kuldeep. Axar and Kuldeep dismissed 6 English batsmen. Gave only 42 runs i.e. an average of 5 runs per over.
The turning point-
Jos Butler’s wicket: England captain Jos Butler played an innings of 23 runs off 15 balls. He hit 4 fours. But Butler was dismissed by Akshar. England got into trouble because of this wicket. Butler had played an unbeaten innings of 80 runs against India in the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup. India lost this match.
